Legends of America is proud to introduce award winning Author and Photographer James (Jim) Hinckley as an official contributor to our website. Here, you will find articles written by Jim, including unique content that can only be found on Legends of America, as well as many of his professional photographs that are available for photo prints and editorial downloads.

Jim Hinckley is a former Associate Editor of Cars and Parts Magazine, the author of multiple books, and a lover of the Great Southwest and Route 66. Jim's writing and photography are a perfect match for our readers at Legends Of America.

Jim says, even though he was born in North Carolina, he's a product of the desert southwest, where he currently lives with his wife Judy, in Arizona. As a husband and wife photography team, the Hinckleys have a lengthy and colorful resume of work appearing in magazines, books, corporate websites, and in promotional materials.

In a short autobiography, Jim writes

"After years of having friends and associates tell me that I was blessed with a gift for telling folks where to go, and with support from my loving wife, I began writing about my passion for lost highways, the road less traveled, the special places found along the way, and the vintage vehicles that once traveled them. To date, this grand adventure has manifested in the form of eight books, more than 1000 feature articles for a wide array of publications including Old Cars Weekly, Classic Auto Restorer, Hemmings Classic Car, The Kingman Daily Miner and American Road, and even an interview with Jay Leno. In addition I write a daily blog chronicling the life of a starving artist on Route 66 and wrote a monthly column profiling the independent thinkers of the American auto industry for Cars & Parts magazine. It is my sincere hope that you find my books and articles an inspiration for over coming obstacles, discovering the joy that comes from seeking the road less traveled, and are inspired to make a road trip or two."

Jim Hinckley's AmericaIn 2013, Jim started "Jim Hinckley's America", which began as a weekly radio show on Alamo AM 1230 in New Mexico. Route 66 Chronicles, which IS Jim Hinckley's America, chronicles the grand adventure on Route 66 and the road less traveled.
