In my dreams I hear again the crash of guns, the rattle of musketry, the strange, mournful mutter of the battlefield.

--Douglas MacArthur

From the American Revolution to the Civil War to World War II and beyond, the United States is no different than the rest of the world - seemingly always at conflict. In these many wars, more than 1.3 million men and women have lost their lives. Of those many soldiers, some 623,026 lost their lives in the Civil War, making it the costliest war in our history.

There are countless tales of bravery, tragedy, strategies, policies, and betrayal in the lives of the many who have fought for this country, and those that have been effected by war. Though Legends' cannot possibly tell them all, these categories and articles will constantly grow as more and more stories are added.

I have no more land

I am driven away from home

Driven up the red waters

Let us all go

Let us all go die together
