We’re glad you found us!  Legends of America has been spreading the word of American History, travel destinations, legends and lore since 2003, and we finally decided it’s time to update our web design so that you can have a better reading experience on all your devices (laptops, phones, tablets, etch a sketch, whatever).

Since it’s just the two of us, this will be a work in progress for a while. That means some of our articles may still be on the older design. There may also be a few broken links, or things that just don’t look right, and we sure would appreciate it if you let us know!  Just copy the url and paste it in an Email to us.

Here’s some tips in finding what you’re looking for if a link is broken.

Not all, but most of our url naming structure is the same, without the .html extension at the end.

Example:

url – http: //www.legendsofamerica.com/na-totems.html

is now

url – https://www.legendsofamerica.com/na-totems

or

You can also use the search bar at the top of the page.

or

You can navigate by subject via our menus at the top of the page.

Known Issues

(08/13/18) – Slideshows in Chrome and Firefox: Our Photo Print Shop is now SSL secure. However we are seeing that our slideshows do not always work on Chrome (depends on browser window “size”.  We are also seeing that on Chrome and Firefox browsers there is a mixed content warning on the SSL lock.  We do not have problems in Windows Edge, nor Safari browsers.  We continue to look into this, but slide shows for the most part should now be working.

(08/13/18) – Internal Broken Links & Incoming Broken Links – For the most part, if you run into a page that’s broken, backspace over the .html at the end of the url and it will likely get you where you were going. We are still at the mercy of  other websites (wikipedia, etc) whose links to us may still be broken.  For external links to our website, we continue to prioritize and redirect to the new url. We only have a handful (couple hundred) .html files to convert.

Kathy and I truly appreciate all your support and encouragement over the years and hope you find our new web home as comfy as we do.

  1. Impressive, two people working on a marvelous site. I come here first when I want to look up anything historical within the United States. You post the most accurate information I can find. Thank you.
