C .N. Dagger -
U.S. Deputy Marshal commissioned in
the Southern District at Paris,
Texas serving under Marshal Sheb Williams. On
November 1, 1890, a dispatch was received from Vernon,
Texas stating that Dagger
had been shot in Kiowa and Comanche country and was in dire need of assistance.

Crawley P. Dake (1836-1890) - Union soldier during the
Civil War and U.S.
Marshal for
Arizona Territory from 1878 to 1882.

Frank Dalton (1859-1887) - The
older brother of the boys who formed the
Dalton Gang,
Frank was a
U.S. Deputy Marshal at
Fort Smith,
Arkansas.
Involved in a number of
gunfights during his short career, he was killed, along Deputy J.R. Cole in 1887 by a man named Dave Smith.

Grattan "Grat” Dalton
(1865-1892) - A member of the deadly
Dalton Gang,
Grat was first a
U.S. Deputy Marshal before he chose a life a crime -- a
decision that would get him killed in the Coffeyville Raid.

Arkansas.

John Davis - A
U.S. Deputy Marshal in
Indian Territory. On August 1, 1895, he tracked Sam Butler, a wanted murderer
and member of the Cook Gang, to the Verdigris River and when he tried to
arrest the fugitive, Butler began to fire his gun. Davis fell mortally
wounded but fired one last shot, killing Butler instantly.

turned outlaw, Deetz was hanged at Rock Creek,
Wyoming.

George DeLaughter -
U.S. Deputy Marshal commissioned in the Western District at
Fort Smith,
Arkansas. He rode in a posse led by Columbus Ayers in
October, 1883, which arrested Johnson Jacks, who had been
charged with murdering
U.S. Deputy Marshal Addison Beck.

Cyrus Dennis -
U.S. Deputy Marshal
commissioned in the Western District court under Marshal John Carrol out of
Fort Smith,
Arkansas. He also served as a
Seminole Lighthorsemen in the Indian Police for twenty-five
years.

U.S. Deputy Marshal commissioned the Central District in 1894.

Ran Dickerson -
U.S. Deputy Marshal commissioned in the Southern District Court of
Indian Territory at Paris,
Texas. In February, 1891, Deputies Ran
Dickerson, Bill Ritter, Frank LeFlore, and Bill McCall caught
up with the Gordon Gang at Brunertown, Seminole Nation and
killed Wash Bruner during a gun battle

"John" Dillingham (1837-1863) - Deputy Sheriff under Henry
Plummer in
Bannack,
Montana, he was killed by
Deputies Charley Forbes and
Buck Stinson
and another man named Hayes Lyons
in
Virginia City,
Montana.

U.S. Deputy Marshal commissioned in
Oklahoma Territory in October, 1894
serving under Marshal Evett Nix.

Daniel H. Divelbirg -
U.S. Deputy Marshal commissioned on June 28, 1869 in the District Court at
Van Buren, Arkansas serving under Marshal William A. Britton.

Henry W. Dixon -
U.S. Deputy Marshal commissioned in 1872 in the Western District at
Fort Smith,
Arkansas serving under Marshal Logan S. Roots. He first
lived Scott County,
Arkansas while he worked in the Western
District Court, but in 1887 was assigned to the Southern
District of
Indian Territory, located in Paris,
Texas, working
under Marshal Thomas B. Needles.

Wells Fargo
Detective, constable of
Tombstone,
Arizona,
and
Texas
cattleman, Dodge was in
Tombstone
during its rowdy boom days.

James M.
Dodson (1842-1907) - Prescott,
Arizona City
Marshal. -
John Doherty - Doherty served as the Mora
County,
New Mexico
Sheriff before he was later murdered.

Cornelius "Lame Johnny" Donahue (1850-1878) - A
lawman
and an
outlaw,
Donahue came from the east to be a
cowboy in
Texas, but
failing that, he became a horse thief. He wound up in
Deadwood,
South Dakota,
where he was a deputy sheriff before returning to a life of crime and
being hanged by
vigilantes.

Leslie Dow (18??-1897) - A gunfighter and a
lawman,
Dow killed killed Zack Light in a gunfight in the late 1880s. He later became
sheriff of Eddy County,
New Mexico on
November 27, 1896. He was killed the next April by the former sheriff, Dave
Kemp.

William Downing - Served as a Deputy sheriff in
Willcox,
Arizona under
Burt"
Alvord in the late 1890's. Later, when
Alvord
turned
outlaw,
Downing allowed him to escape.

Drake (18??-1892) -
U.S. Deputy Marshal in
Oklahoma Territory. He was killed
in the line of duty on May 25, 1892.

Charles N. Dugger - (18??-1896) - A
U.S. Deputy Marshal in
Oklahoma
Territory, Dugger was killed in the line of duty on June 20, 1896.

John Riley Duncan (1850-1911) - Dallas police officer, detective and
Texas Ranger,
most noteworthy in the capture of
John Wesley Hardin.

Perry DuVal (18?-1873) - A
U.S. Deputy Marshal in
Indian Territory, Duval
was killed in the line of duty.
