66 Motel, Tulsa, Oklahoma
- Text on back: The 66 Motel, also
known as the El Reposo court, was located at 3660 Southwest Boulevard in Tulsa.
It was built around 1933 and was listed on the National Register of Historic
Places. The motel was destroyed June 26, 2001 to make room for mini-storage
units. The fate of the sign is unknown as of the time of publication. Being on
the Register does not guarantee preservation. Postcard is new and in mint
condition.
Glass House Restaurant, Vinita, Oklahoma - Text on back:
Spectacular night view of the Glass House Restaurant Broiler room on the Will
Rogers Turnpike at Vinita,
Oklahoma. Vintage postcard is unused and in very good

Will Rogers Turnpike Highway, Oklahoma

Will Rogers turnpike 96 miles of super highway, between
Tulsa,
Claremore, Vinita
and Miami, Oklahoma to
Missouri State Line. Vintage postcard is unused and in
very good condition.
Hoop
Dance at Indian City, Anadarko, Oklahoma - Text on back: Indian
Hoop Dance. Wichita Grass House. Indian City USA. This authentic grass house was
built by members of the Wichita Tribe. This type of Indian structure was
designed for the southern plains. Vintage postcard is unused and in very good

Motel
Villa Inn, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma - Text on back: Once, the Lincoln
Blvd. corridor in
Oklahoma City
was filled with motels. Over time, they were abandoned or often put to less
savory uses. In an effort to stop crime and beautify the approach to the
Capitol, the older motels along with various other buildings were slated for
demolition. The Villa Inn Motel was among the last to go. The sign disappeared
first; the building several years later. Postcard is new and in mint condition.
Dosie Creek Bridge near Davenport, Oklahoma
- Text on back:
This old bridge over Dosie Creek, dating back to 1917 and the days of the Ozark
Trail, was located east of Davenport/west of Stroud on the earliest alignment of
66. Although a contributing feature to the Ozark Trails Section in Lincoln
County which is on the National Register of Historic Places, it was destroyed
when a new bridge was put in. Being on the Register does not guarantee
preservation. Postcard is new and in mint condition.
Will Rogers Turnpike, Oklahoma

the famous "over the road" Glass House Restaurant on the Will Rogers Turnpike,
Vinita,
Oklahoma. The
Cherokee settled in the Eastern part of Oklahoma, having
come from Virginia, the Carolinas, Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama. Vintage
postcard is unused and in very good condition.

The Browsery, Tulsa, Oklahoma
- Text on back:
The Browsery, near the corner of Harvard & 11th, was all that remained of the
series of buildings comprising Chief Wolf Robe's early trading post in
Tulsa.
(He later moved it to Catoosa.) In the late 1990s, the building was demolished
for expansion of the Skelly Stadium complex, but at the time of publication, the
empty lot remains. Postcard is new and in mint condition.
Meramec Caverns Barn near Sapulpa, Oklahoma - Text on back:
As of 1996, there were two Meramec Caverns "barns" along Route 66 in
Oklahoma.
One still remains just west of Chandler. The one shown on the front of this card
was located between
Tulsa and
Sapulpa on current State Highway 66. The barn was
demolished for construction of the Creek Turnpike/I-44 Interchange. Postcard is
new and in mint condition.
Clock Inn Motel, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
- Text on back: The
Clock Inn Motel sign once overlooked the 1954 alignment in eastern
Oklahoma City
(north side of I-44 by Lippert Road, just west of the I-35 junction.) The sign
is now at the Muscle Car Ranch in Chickasha, Oklahoma. The motel itself is long
gone. Postcard is new and in mint condition.
Will Rogers Turnpike, Oklahoma
- Text on back: Entrance to
Will Rogers Turnpike connecting
Tulsa,
Oklahoma and
Joplin,
Missouri. Named
after Oklahoma's beloved son Will Rogers, it is designed and built to give the
motorist the safest and most pleasant trip to be had anywhere. Vintage postcard
is unused and in very good condition.
Nutrena Silo,
Chelsea, Oklahoma - Text on back: Located by railroad tracks near the
downtown district of Chelsea, this wooden structure with its faded lettering
continued to promote Nutrena until it was demolished, which was sometime before
mid-1998. Postcard is new and in mint condition.
Indian
Sign near Bristow, Oklahoma - Text on back: This towering Indian was
located between Kellyville and Bristow at a turn for Heyburn Lake. It
disappeared when the property began to be used for pallet storage. Postcard is
new and in mint condition.
UFO Parking near Stroud, Oklahoma
- Text on back: This
humorous sign was grouped with several other whimsical metal sculptures. Located
on private property fronting 66 east of Stroud near the Creek-Lincoln County
line, the sign disappeared in late 2000 or early 2001 after the owner of the
property died. At the time of publication, other objects, including a train and
a cow and her calf, were still there but in poor condition. Postcard is new and
in mint condition.
