Valley National Park. Along Artist’s Drive in Death Valley National Park
is Artist’s Palette. Here, oxidation has produced a rainbow of colors in
the eroded clay deposits of ancient lake bed sediments. Iron oxides
produce violet, yellow, red, brown, and black. Green is usually caused by
copper or the breakdown of mica.

cost 2 million dollars. Built in its entirety on a Spanish motif.

located at the extreme northern end of the Yosemite Wilderness at 8,900
feet above sea level. The peak above the far end of the lake is called
Keyes Peak at 9,600 feet elevation. Tower Peak is just to the right of
Keyes Peak and is 11,755 feet.

Death Valley - Golden Canyon - Text on back: Death Valley
National Park. A walk through Golden Canyon reveals splendid panoramas of
Manly Beacon and the Red Cathedral. Golden Canyon was created as water,
carrying abrasive material such as sand and gravel, cut through the layers
of rock. The Red Cathedral is an ancient alluvial fan whose iron compounds

Wizard Island is a deep volcanic crater more than 1000 feet in
circumference. Towering varicolored cliffs contrast with the deep blue of
the Lake. Vintage postcard has writing on back, is postmarked 1960 and
complete with intact 3 cent stamp. Card is in good condition.
