Parking - The U.S.
National
Park Service maintains nearly 400 natural,
cultural and recreational sites across the nation. The first
National
Park
system in the world, the park service was created in 1916 and now
entertains some 275 million people yearly who marvel at the many natural
and historic wonders and enjoy the recreational opportunities the parks
provide. The images depicted here were created by the Works Progress
Administration (WPA) in the 1930's and 1940's.

Mt Rushmore, South Dakota - Text on back: Mount Rushmore Memorial, Black
Hills, South Dakota. The splendor of America's Shrine of Democracy is
always thrilling - but especially at sunset. Vintage postcard is unused
and in good condition with only slight edge wear.
White Sands Monument,
New Mexico
- Text on back: One of the world’s strangest and most spectacular Deserts.
Over 224 square miles of what appears to be white sand, but in reality is
pure gypsum. Fifteen miles south of Alamogordo, on U.S. Highway 70, “The
Treasure Trail.” The sand dunes, sometimes as high as 50 feet, shift
slowly and are ever increasing as to the area covered. A fine paved road
leads into the heart of the sands to a recreational area. Vintage
postcard is unused, in very good condition for its age.
Great Basin National Park, Nevada - Text on back: Baker Lake,
July 15, 1998; 10,620 feet elevation. A scenic paved road winds to
10,164 feet elevation to access Wheeler Peak Campground. There is a
trail to 13,063 ft. Wheeler Peak for a strenuous day hike. Easier hikes
are to Wheeler Glacier, Bristlecone pine forest, Stella, Teresa and
Brown Lakes. Postcard is new, unused and in mint condition.
