Magnificent
Tetons - Text on Back:
Grand Teton National Park,
Wyoming.
Few mountain rangers are higher, but the
Teton Range is simply
awesome. There are no foothills for the eye to follow to the
peaks. Nine million years ago tectonic forces pushed up a block on
the western side and on the eastern side a block titled downward.
Over many years, ice, water, and wind have carved the jagged peaks
we see today.
Postcard is new, unused and in mint condition.
Fort
Union, New Mexico National Monument - Six-pounder cannon - field cannon, such as
the six-pounder, were effective artillery pieces, a smaller version, the
twelve-pounder mountain howitzer with high-prairie carriage, was favored
by the army in the west due to its light weight and mobility, named for
the weight of the projectile they fired, a number of these guns were
warehoused at Fort Union, Watrous,
New Mexico. Postcard is new, unused and
in excellent condition.
Death Valley,
California - Racetrack - Text on back: Death
Valley National Park. The Racetrack in Death Valley is an ancient lake bed
in the shape of an oval. The playa’s surface is broken by a giant rock
outcropping called the Grandstand. This exposure, which has the North Star
positioned over the Grandstand, was first exposed for 40 minutes under the
setting moon to light the landscape. The stars were then exposed for 6
hours to show their rotation around the north star. Photo by Jim Stroup.

Minerva Terrace, Yellowstone National Park -
Text on back: The hot spring Terraces are an awe-inspiring spectacle, covering
an area of nearly 200 acres. The delicate colorings of the formations,
beautifully crystallized, exquisitely plated as if covered with frosted silver,
the singularly blue transparency of the water combine to form an unrivaled
effect. Vintage linen postcard is unused and in good condition.
Death
Valley, California - Floor - Text on back: Death Valley
National Park. The floor of Death Valley is an ancient lake bottom left
exposed by the deserts arid climate. A lake 30 feet deep existed here only
2000 years ago. Salt precipitated from its drying waters, forming a layer
that is from 3 to 5 feet thick. Below this is at least 1000 feet of
alternating layers of salt and rubble representing deposits from other
lakes that have existed in Death Valley. Photo by Jim Stroup.

Fort Union,
New Mexico Santa Fe Trail Ruts
- Text
on back: Fort Union National Monument,
New Mexico. New
Mexico's Fort Union Monument was established to preserve
this historic military depot on the
Santa Fe
Trail. Used
continually from 1821 until 1880, the 900-mile trail was a
major trade route that brought an estimated 2,000 wagons
west each year. Shown here is one of the many eroded remains
of the Mountain Branch near Fort Union. Though longer and
more rugged than the Cimarron Branch, many chose this route
because of readily available water and fewer problems with
the Native Americans along the way. Postcard is new, unused
and in mint condition.
Electric Peak, Yellowstone National Park -
Text on back: To get this view of Electric Peak, second highest mountain in the

elevation of the summit of Electric Peak is 11,155 feet above sea level. Vintage
linen postcard is unused and in good condition.
