Fort
Union National Monument - Six-pounder cannon - field cannon, such as
the six-pounder, were effective artillery pieces, a smaller version, the
twelve-pounder mountain howitzer with high-prairie carriage, was favored
by the army in the west due to its light weight and mobility, named for
the weight of the projectile they fired, a number of these guns were
warehoused at Fort Union, Watrous,
New Mexico. Postcard is new, unused and
in excellent condition.
Fort Miley, San Francisco - Text on back: Veterans’
Hospital, Fort Miley (Overlooking the Golden Gate). Covering a ground area
of 43 acres, this recently completed group of 17 modern buildings erected
at a cost of $1,500,000.00, is located picturesquely above the Golden
Gate. This government Hospital cares for both men and women Veterans.

Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield, Marietta, Georgia
- Text on back: Visitor Center. Kennesaw Mountain national Battlefield Park.
Marietta, Georgia. The Battle of kennesaw Mountain was fought June 27,
1864. The smaller Confederate force (60,000) under Johnston defeated the
larger Union army (95,000) under Sherman. The Confederate victory slowed
Sherman's March to the sea. Vintage postcard is unused and in good
condition.
Main
Entrance, James Fort, Jamestown - Text on back: James Fort,
Jamestown, Virginia. The main entrance to old James Fort faced the James
River. The three ships which brought the original settlers were
reconstructed along with the fort and may be seen at Jamestown Festival
Park. Vintage postcard is unused and in good condition.
Grant Hall, Fort Leavenworth,
Kansas - Text on back: Grant Hall,
Fort
Leavenworth, Kansas. Grant Hall is the center building in the Headquarters
complex. The complex was built over a period of years from 1859 to 1904, and is
named for Generals Sheridan, Grant and Sherman. It is now used as offices of the
Combined Arms Center. Vintage postcard is unused and in good condition.

U.S.O. Hospitality House, San Jose
- Text on
back: San Jose’s U.S.O. Hospitality House, a typical California Spanish
bungalow occupying a prominent site in the City Plaza, is “hospitality
headquarters” for all those in the armed forces. The House, built in one
day - August 16, 1941- by trade union craftsmen, donating their services
from material donated by local building supply firms has provided to be “A
Home away from Home” for thousands of men in uniform. Vintage postcard is
in good condition
Comanche Hall, Chadron, Nebraska - Text on back: Commanche
Hall. This former Bachelor Officers Quarters at historic Fort Robinson
houses the offices of the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture Beef Research station
at the fort and is also the training school for U.S. Dept. of Agriculture
Soil Conservationists. Postcard has writing on the back; postmarked Rapid
City, July 10, 1967; four cent stamp is intact. Vintage postcard is in
good condition.
Fort
Necessity National Battlefield, Virginia - Text on back:
Fort Necessity National Battlefield. (Visitor Center and Mt.
Washington Tavern in background). Site of George Washington's
first battle, July 3, 1754, and opening battle of French and
Indian War. Fort rebuilt, 1954, following archeological survey, in
likeness of original which was burned by the enemy. Administered
by National Park Service.
Located 11 miles east of Uniontown, Pennsylvania,
on U.S. Rt. 40. Vintage postcard is unused and in good condition.
Fort William Henry, Lake George -
Text on back: Historic Fort William Henry - Lake George, New York. Built
in 1755 by Sir William Johnson to guard the portage between Lake George
and the Hudson River, Destroyed in 1757 by Marquis, de Montcalm . . .
Restored as a Museum of Colonial Americana dedicated to contributions
made by this area to the development of our nation. Living History
Demonstrations bring the past alive and are part of the tour conduced by
Costumed Guides. Vintage postcard is unused and in good condition with
scalloped edging.
Fort Kearney, Nebraska - Text on back: Fort Kearney,
a pioneer outpost on the Oregon Trail a century ago, is being rebuilt in
authentic fashion. Built as a post to guard the emigrants against Indian
attacks from about 1850 to 1870, the fort will soon look as it did 100
years ago. It is located 7 miles southeast of Kearney,
Nebraska (via
Highway 10). Vintage postcard is unused and in good condition.
White House of the Confederacy, Richmond - Text on back: Formerly a private residence, it was purchased in 1862 by
the City of Richmond for the use of the Confederate Government and during
the way was occupied by President Davis and his family. It is now a
Confederate Museum, each of the 14 Confederate States having in it a
memorial room. In the yard of the mansion is the propeller shaft of the
"Virginia-Merrimac", whose engagement with the "Monitor" revolutionized
naval warfare the world over. Vintage linen postcard is unused and in good
condition.
