Greetings From Illinois - Custom original only available at the
Rocky
Mountain General Store. Text on back: Greetings From
Illinois. In the
"Land of Lincoln," visitors find wide diversity from the major
metropolitan city of
Chicago, to the small farming communities
along old
Route 66, to its many state parks, where the trees are
lush and streams flow freely. Postcard is brand new and in mint
condition.
Russell Soulsby, Route 66 Hall
of Fame of Illinois - Text on back: Russell Soulsby. Opened in July
of 1926 (4 months before
Route 66), Russell & his Father, harry,
began as "Soulsby Service" &, for more than 64 years, was a
fixture o the Road. At one time, the station sold milk, ice cream,
& other items (as well as gas, & repairs). Finally closed down in
Nov. of '91-because it did not meet E.P.A. standards, Russell &
his sister Ola remain there greeting travelers & fixing T.V.S!
Located on old
Route 66 in Mount Olive. Postcard is unused and in
excellent condition.
