Ponce de Leon,
St Augustine
- Text on back: This magnificent statue of Ponce de
Leon, first citizen of Augustine and the discoverer of Florida in
1513, holds a commanding position overlooking beautiful,
silvery-blue Mantanzas Bay in the nations oldest city. The figure
of Ponce de Leon is cast from an old canon. Vintage linen
postcard has writing on the back and an intact 1
cent stamp. Shows slight edge wear and postmark has bleed thru in
spots.
Oldest House in
America, St Augustine
- Text on back: St. Augustine contains picturesque
old houses. Everywhere is historic ground. Some of these old
building are open to the public as historic show places, while
others are still serving as private residences, a tribute to their
substantial mode of construction. Vintage linen

slight crease in upper left corner.
Oldest School House, St.
Augustine

on back: The quaint old St. George Street, just inside the City Gates,
stands the Oldest School House, under three flags. A Spanish map of 1788
shows this house of wood “in fair condition”. A replica of this Oldest
School House was used in comparison with the most modern school building,
at A Century of Progress Exposition. This old red cedar school house is
open to visitors daily. Vintage linen

suburb of Miami, known as the "City of Beautiful Homes." Vintage Linen
postcard has writing on back; postmarked 1940; has one cent stamp intact.

Beautiful Sunken Gardens, St. Petersburg, Florida. Vintage postcard has
writing on the back; postmarked in 1964; and has a four cent stamp intact.

Henry
Morrison Flagler Museum, Palm Beach - Text on back: The Henry Morrison Flagler Museum, Whitehall Way, Palm
Beach, Florida. Ballroom: This tremendous room, 91 x 87 feet is decorated
in the style of Louis XV. Its color scheme is soft toned white and gold,
Boucher panels installed above the long windows provide an aura of refined
fastidious elegance of the old world, the beautiful ornamented mirrors
between the windows, the jeweled chandeliers are typical of the famous
ballrooms of the 15th Century. Vintage postcard has writing on the back;
postmarked 1965; four cent stamp is intact. Good condition.
Florida's Barefoot Mailman, Hillsboro Light
- Text on back: "The Mail Must Go". Scene shows a modern-day counterpart of
his predecessors of 1887, on his lonely trek passing famed Hillsboro
Light. History relates, the Barefoot Mailman's journey required him to swim
and row his boat across inlets and prepare his own meals of fish and
coconuts. One such carrier lost his life at the Hillsboro Inlet and a
memorial in his memory has been erected on that beach.
Charlotte Street, St.
Augustine

back: Charlotte St., St Augustine, Fla. Charlotte Street is one of the
chief thoroughfares of the city, and is especially interesting because of
the number of old dwellings it contains. The early Spanish residences were
built of coquina, and many of them were provided with balconies projecting
from the second stories; the narrowness of the streets rendered the latter
feature a great aid to neighborly sociability. Vintage
postcard is unused and in good condition, shows slight
corner wear in upper left corner.
Oldest House, St Augustine

Oldest House - Property of the St. Augustine Historical Society, and
Institute of Science, St. Augustine, Fla. On St. Francis Street, beside
the old barracks and five minutes walk from the Plaza, directly south
along the Sea Wall to the end. Then look to the right and you will see The
House Under Four Flags. Open daily from 8 A.M. to 6 P.M. Guide in
attendance. Vintage linen

complete with intact 1 cent stamp. Card is in good condition.
Old City Gates, St
Augustine

back: Old City Gates, St. Augustine, Fla. Built 1743, consisting of two
square pillars of coquina rock, 20 feet in height, 10 feet thick; walls
are 30 feet in length and 10 feet thick, space between pillars is 12 feet
and were protected with heavy iron bound gates, and the approach was by
way of a draw-bridge over the moat or ditch. Vintage linen
postcard is unused and in very good condition, slight
corner wear.

Old World in the New. Gracing its interior are handsome relics of the
Royalty of Old Spain. The Oldest House is open to the public as an

Old City Gates
- Test on
back: The City Gates, property of the National Park Service, were built of
coquina in 1807; the barrier having originally been of wood in 1743. For
centuries the only entrance to the City from the north by land, was
through these gates guarded by sentinels day and night. A moat outside of
the gates formed part of the City defense. Vintage linen
postcard is unused and in good condition, shows some edge
wear.

text on back: Vintage postcard has writing on back is postmarked 1924 and
complete with intact 1 cent stamp. Card shows edge wear and a small tear
on right edge and some creasing.
