Route 66, the
Big Texan Steak Ranch has been a
Route 66 icon for four decades.
Originally located on
Amarillo
Boulevard, the successful and lively eatery got its start in 1959. To
maintain its success, It was forced to move to I-40 when
Route 66 was bypassed by the
interstate. It continues to serve
Mother Road
travelers today with lively entertainment and great steaks. Postcard is brand

Mount Moriah Cemetery
- Text on back:
Wild Bill Hickok (1837-1876) American frontier scout and famed
lawman of the West.
Hickok liked to gamble at cards and while playing in a poker game, he was
shot in the back by Jack McCall, on August 2, 1876.
Wild Bill was holding
Ace's and Eight's when he was shot, forever after called the "Dead Man's
Hand." Calamity Jane (1852-1903) was the nickname of Martha Jane Canary, a
famous American frontierswoman. She was an expert with horse and rifle and
served as a scout for
General George Custer. She was in
Deadwood
during the time
Wild Bill Hickok was shot and killed. Today they lie next to one
another in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery.

cultural and recreational sites across the nation. The first

system in the world, the park service was created in 1916 and now
entertains some 275 million people yearly who marvel at the many natural

provide. The images depicted here were created by the Works Progress
Administration (WPA) in the 1930's and 1940's.

connected many of the small towns of the American West, spanning 2,500 miles

Los Angeles.
In 1984, the vintage "Mother Road"
was decommissioned and bypassed by interstates. Today, Route 66
sees a rebirth as a new generation searches for "signs" of simpler times.

North Dakota - The Roughrider State

North Dakota - The first Europeans reached
North Dakota in 1738 and Lewis & Clark traveled through the area in
1804. What would become a state in 1889 was sparsely populated
until the late 1800s. Though today, it is the 19th largest state,
it is the 48th most populous, with lots of room to roam. Visit the Theodore Roosevelt National Park, Fort Union Trading Post and
Knife River Indian National Historic Sites, 15 state parks, and
dozens of wildlife refuges.
North Dakota is also known as the
"Peace Garden State," the "Flickertail State," and the "Rough
