Route 66 was thought of as the
"super-highway” when it was commissioned in 1926, representing
unprecedented freedom to travel across the American West. In 1985, the
historic road was officially decommissioned as the pavement was bypassed
by interstates. However, a new generation of travelers enjoy the historic
highway today.

Text on back: Cotton McNabney. Cotton worked & owned various
cafes on
Route 66. One was Circle Brothers in Chenoa. (which is
now Steve's Café). From 1949 to 1972 he operated Cotton's Village
Inn at 401 N. Main St. in Bloomington. Cotton passed away on April
11, 1992. Postcard is unused and in excellent condition.
Needles
California Route 66 - Custom original only available at the

Colorado River, Needles is the gateway to
California from
Arizona.
Filled with history, the area provides peeks at ancient petroglyphs,
dozens of vintage
Route 66 buildings, one of the few remaining
historic Harvey House Hotels, and numerous recreational opportunities.

Captain Francis Mowery, Route 66 Hall of Fame of Illinois
- Text on back: Captain Francis Mowery. Francis worked for the
Illinois State Police from 1941-1974. Member of first graduating
class in '41 of the State Police Training Academy. After his
return from W.W. II, he began his beat on
Route 66 near Pontiac.
promoted to Sergeant in '52, Lieutenant in '47, and in '62 became
1st Captain and first Commander of the new District 6, which runs
from Dwight to McLean to his retirement in '74. He currently lives
in Fairbury, IL. Postcard is unused and in excellent condition.

Ernie Edwards, Route 66 Hall of Fame of Illinois
- Text on
back: Ernie Edwards, Pig Hip Restaurant. On 6/16/37, a legend was
born in Broadwell & before it ended in Sept. '91 the Pig Hip
Restaurant, Sandwich, & its colorful owner would be known
worldwide. Ernie, known for his gift of gab, greeted travelers who
went there with great stories & food. The Pig hip is closed now,
but Ernie & his wife, Francis, are still there to tell the tales
of the Mother Road. located on
Route 66 in Broadwell.
