Text on back: In the 1920's Route 66 opened a path to the west providing a transportation route better than any known before; in the 1930's, the road provided a refuge for the many dust bowlers fleeing a desolate life; and in the 1940's, this historic pavement offered tourists a glimpse at sights they could only have previously imagined. Today, a new generation of Route 66 travelers explore the historic "Mother Road" for signs of simpler times. Postcard is brand new and in mint condition.

Vanished Route 66 Sights in Oklahoma - Text on back: Oklahoma Route 66, Series 1 marks the debut of Vanished Sights - a photographic tribute to favorite structures once seen along 66 but now gone. The sights depicted in Series 1 were still in existence in 1996. Over time, they have either been demolished, moved to a new location away from the route, or met an unknown fate.

Big 8 Motel, El Reno, Oklahoma - Text on back: The big 8 Motel, formerly the Beacon and located on the eastern outskirts of El Reno, was used for an Amarillo setting in the movie "The Rainman." Later owners tore down the sign, which was rescued from the trash heap by a local law enforcement officer. Postcard is new and in mint condition.
