Arizona Historic 66 postcard Arizona Historic Route 66 - Historic Route 66. Officially numbered on November 11th, 1926, Route 66 stretched 376 miles across northern Arizona. Although sections of the old highway are still traveled for their historical value and nostalgia. Route 66 was eventually bypassed by I-40 in the late 1970's.

George Hall lent his name to Halltown, which was known as the "antique capital of the world" when 66 was in its heyday.
