Chicago, Illinois Route 66 - Custom original only available at the
Rocky
Mountain General Store. Text on back: When
Route 66
began in 1926, its staring point was on Jackson Boulevard at
Michigan Avenue. In 1933, the starting point was moved east to
Jackson and Lake Shore Drive. In 1955, it was moved again to
Michigan Avenue when Jackson Boulevard became one way. Adams
Street became the new westbound
Route 66.
Today,
Chicago
currently marks the official beginning of
Route 66
as Adams Street and Michigan Avenue. Postcard

, this 80-foot long grinning whale can

West, spanning 2,500 miles

Chicago to
Los Angeles.
In 1984, the vintage "Mother Road"
was decommissioned and bypassed by interstates. Today, Route 66
sees a rebirth as a new generation searches for "signs" of simpler times.

The flag is symbolic. The tan center is an Osage warrior's buckskin shield,
representing defensive or protective warfare. Across the shield runs the red
man's Calumet (peace pipe) crossed with the white man's peace symbol, the olive
branch. The small crosses are Indian stars and represent lofty ideals. The blue
field represents the blue skies of
Oklahoma. Vintage 1960s postcard is unused
and in very good condition.

It was officially decommissioned on June 27, 1985 after it was decided the
route was no longer relevant and it had been replaced by the Interstate
Highway System.

Turnpike. This 88 mile turnpike runs directly between
Oklahoma City

Tulsa,
connecting with the Will Rogers Turnpike at
Tulsa which
