A Royal Flush is the best hand in Poker.

 

Top Ten Starting Hands

Ace Ace - A pair of aces, also known as "pocket rockets" and less often referred to as  "American Airlines," is the best starting hand.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

King King  - The second best starting hand is a pair of kings, referred to as "cowboys" or "King Kong."

 

 

Queen Queen  - A pair of "ladies" is the third best starting hand.

 

 

Ace King suited  - A suited ace-king, also known as a "big slick" is the fourth best starting hand in Texas Holdem.

 

 

Ace Queen suited  - Referred to as "big chick" or "little slick", an ace-queen combination in the same suit is the fifth best starting hand.

 

 

Jack Jack - A pair of jacks, often referred to as "hooks" or "fishhooks" is the next best starting hand.

 

 

King Queen suited  - A royal king and queen in the same suit makes the list as the seventh best starting hand.

 

 

Ace Jack suited -  Known also as  "blackjack" for obvious reasons, and sometimes referred to as "ajax," the ace-jack combo rates eighth.

 

 

King Jack suited  - A King and a Jack of the same suit is the next best starting hand in Texas Holdem.

 

 

Ace King offsuit - An Ace and a King of different suits makes the number ten spot in the best starting hands

 

 

Recommended Hands to Raise With:

When you get one of these premium hands, bet aggressively, jamming the pot prior to the flop.

AA, KK, QQ, AK, JJ, AQ, 1010

Recommended Hands to Call With: 

When you pull these cards, you will want to stay in the game to see the flop.  Call the first one or two rounds.
 

AJ, KQ, QJ, J10, 109 (only if of same suit), 99, 88, 77, Ax (same suit)
