Cowboy
Logic by Kinky Friedman -
Kinky Friedman is known for many things. He’s the irrepressible future
Governor of
Texas. He is the "oldest Jew in
Texas who doesn’t own real
estate." And he is notorious for his outrageous one-liners. Cowboy Logic
is a distillation of the very best. Complimenting Kinky’s timeless maxims
are illustrations by the brilliant Ace Reid. Kinky’s "Little Red Book" is
a compilation of his hilarious, insightful, and raunchy one-liners.
Organized into sections including: Cowboy Logic; Things You Would Never
Hear a Real Texan Say; Blessings, Curses, & Other Observations on the
Condition of Our Condition; All Politics is Yokel; Kinky on Kinky; The
Continuing Adventures of God & Man; Treasures & Pleasures; Advice to
People Who Are Happier Than I am; The Great State of
Texas; Love, Marriage
& Other Hopeless Causes; Writing for Fun & Prophet; and Animal Crackers.
American
West by Loren D. Estleman - Once, there was a world where the heroes were defined by
their white clothing and the bad guys always wore black. The town sheriff
always gunned down the wild gunslinger while the lady in distress cowered.
The
Indian
was to be feared, not understood, and the white man always saved the day.
This was the traditional Western. But times change, as did the Western.
The evolving Western is told from the point of view of blacks,
Native
Americans, Hispanics, Asians, Jews, Gentiles,
Mormons, Catholics, women, and men. It is about America; it is about life.
Whether a story's central element is a hangman or a midwife, a piano or a
cowboy
who hates tomatoes, you may be certain of one thing, if the tale reflects
an expanding continent, it reflects the
American
West. New - soft back.

Outlaw
Tales of Arizona by Jan Cleere - After too
many whiskeys, Buckskin Frank Leslie would stand his wife against a wall and
shoot around her silhouette. Few jails could hold Augustine Chacon, who boasted
of killing more than fifty men. Burt Alvord conducted business on both sides of
the law. And while Charles Stanton sipped his favorite Irish whiskey, unsavory
gunmen looted and killed under his orders. Outlaw Tales of Arizona uncovers
eleven true stories of the state's most notorious outlaws and events from the
late 1800s. Massacres, mayhem, and mischief lurk between these pages, bringing
back wild times when the law and the lawless were often in cahoots and no one
was safe from the whim of a gun-slinging desperado.
Clay
Allison - Legend of Cimarron --
by John A. Truett - Clay
Allison is a historical figure who never killed a man unless he needed
killing. But he was so much more. John A Truett has given the
gunslinger
Allison new life: he was a soldier, a friend, a lover. He
was a young man on the frontier who wanted to contribute positively to a
new land. He left a mark on that new land and should not be
forgotten. John A. Truett's biograhical novel will insure he is
remembered. Used, hardback, collector's item.

The
Vanishing American Frontier by Jake Milgram Wien
This
book illustrates the paintings and drawings of Bernarda Bryson Shaun who

beautiful pieces of work for the Resettlement Administration of Franklin
Delano Roosenvelt in 1935-1936. These artworks are a great
compliment to the many vintage photos from the same era which are on our
website.

The
Quotable Cowboy by Kathy Etling -
Cowboys remind us when life was
simple, when everything was black and white, and when hope lay upon the
horizon like a pale rising sun. Americans are heirs to their myth and
legacy, no matter where we hang our hats. Editing this tidy collection is
Buckmasters Deer Ladies columnist and longtime contributor Kathy Etling,
who writes cowboy poetry under the name K.T. Etling. She is a charter
member of the Missouri Cowboy Poets Association, and her poetry has been
published in places such as the American Cowboy and Neighs & Whinnies. She
is also the author of five books about the outdoors. Etling lives in
Missouri, where she enjoys time spent with her horses and on her family's
farm. A perfect gift for any outdoors person! Hardback.

From
Hardtack to Home Fries by Barbara Haber - Culinary
historian Barbara Haber takes a unique approach to the history of cooking
in America, focusing on a remarkable assembly of little-known or forgotten
Americans who helped shape the eating habits of the nation. As Curator of
Books at Harvard University's Schlesinger Library, Haber had access to
more than 16,000 cookbooks from which she has drawn inspiring and often
surprising stories of the way meals have shaped America's past. Peppered
throughout with recipes, Haber's fascinating survey adds a delicious new
dimension to America's cultural heritage. New, paperback.
