Discoveries America New York DVD

For many, New York City is the center of the universe. Global headquarters for some of the world’s most distinguished corporations and home of the United Nations, New York Stock Exchange, theaters, museums, subways and so much more - there’s no place on earth quite like the Big Apple. Most people first think of the hustle and bustle of New York City, but forget there are also neighborhoods, farmers markets and of course, Central Park that give the city personality. At 2am the Fulton Fish Market is a bustling center of commerce with a community of vendors that love what they do. “Tribute” created after 9/11, is a multi-media events space and high tech museum that celebrates the power, creativity and resilience of the city. A tour of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island Immigration Museum reminds what America is all about and the thousands of immigrants who came to this country to begin new lives. The apple orchards of the Hudson Valley are where the Big Apple claimed its name and the mounded apple pie from Tantillo’s Fruit Stand is pretty big too. Down the road, the historic Huguenot village of New Paltz has buildings from several centuries all on one street. Everything from miniatures to monuments can be cast at Tallix Art Foundry where artists come to bring their works of sculpture to life. Saratoga Springs is a proud and prosperous community that has managed to preserve an aura of sophistication and fine living through its mineral springs and horse racing. The largest state park in USA, Adirondack State Park with over 6 million acres. So remote an area, Old Forge Mail Boat delivers to some lakeside residents. The Erie Canal was once a major transportation artery between New York City and the Great Lakes. Its Locks are still functional and in great shape due to the diligent efforts of the lock keepers. They keep coming back for more! Home made cookies at the Fly By Night Cookie Company keep Bonnie Bridson busy in the kitchen. A journey through this diverse state would not be complete without a visit to Niagara Falls including a ride on the “Maid of the Mists” tour boat to get up close and personal with the amazing falls…and fireworks over Manhattan is a sight to behold.
