Old Kentucky Bourbon has long been a favorite
of saloon patrons. American bourbon is a whiskey made from at least 51%
corn or maize with the remainder being wheat or rye, and malted barley.
Today, it is distilled and aged in charred white oak barrels for at least
two years and sometimes longer, though how it was handled during the 19th
century is anybody's guess.
