Whether a gambler is playing in a small game
like this one in Ohio in 1874, or playing on the professional tables of
Las Vegas, knowing gambling lingo, is
going to give him or her an edge:
Here are just a few:
Aces Up:
Two pair, a pair of Aces and any other pair.
Action: Any
action in the game, including a fold, check, call, bet, or raise.
Check: To
waive the right to initiate the betting in a round, but to retain the
right to act if another player initiates the betting.
Rainbow:
A flop that contains three different suits, thus no flush can be made on
the turn. Can also mean a complete five card board that has no more than
two of any suit, thus no flush is possible.
