Metro Diner courtesy
National
Historic Route 66 Federation
Once situated at 3001 E. 11th St., the Metro Diner, open for 22
years, greeted diners with "Elvis Eats Here," on its marques. A
favorite of local Tulsans and
Route 66 enthusiasts alike, the diner
succumbed, like many other 66 icons, to progress. In 2006, the land
was purchased by the University of Tulsa to make way for a new
entrance, the diner was closed and eventually bulldozed.
