The biggest attraction in
Riverton,
Kansas along old
Route
66 is the Eisler Brothers
Store. Built in 1925, it was originally called William's Store, selling
groceries and general merchandise, providing a small restaurant, and featuring a
Standard Station. By 1932, a “Y Not Eat Barbecue” had been added.
Though it changed over the years, the business never
closed and in 1973, the Eisler family bought the location, opening a market and
deli. Today, the well maintained building still provides groceries and
old-fashioned deli sandwiches as well as a variety of
Route
66 souvenirs for a new
generation of 66 enthusiasts.
The locaction was placed on the National Register of
Historic Places in 2003 and continues to service both travelers and locals
alike.
