St Elmo, originally settled in 1878, is one of the most preserved ghost towns in Colorado.  At one time, this ghost town had more than 150 patented mine claims in the immediate area.

Old poster for the St Elmo drama, which was based on the book of the same name.  When the local postmaster objected to the name of Forest City, they named the settlement after this book.
