The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park was home to Stephen King for five months while he wrote "The Shining."  This hotel, completed in 1909 by F.O. Stanley is said to be haunted by both Stanley and his wife, as well as the prior owner of the property, a man by the name of Lord Dunraven, who was run out of the area after swindling several people out of their land and money. Mysteriously, several children are also said to haunt the old hotel.
