Billboard cartoon

Since the beginning of time people have been staking out their sign, beckoning those with money in their pockets to spend a little at their place of business. Whether it was a place to eat, rest their heads, or gas up the car, the signs got bigger over time, "screaming” Stop Here!

Some of these are funny, some are strange, and some bring back memories of another era. With new technology many of the hand-painted bill boards of the past have disappeared and neon has faded with digital technology. However, upon Route 66, you will still find numerous peeks at this vintage era.

Here are a few we found along the way.
